Model the mindset

Model the mindset

Think “YouTube tutorial”. Showing is more powerful than telling. Too much talking causes cognitive overload, and then you lose your students before they even start on the activities.
If the activity requires lengthy explanations or rephrasing, it’s probably not worth it!
Make it simple, show and share your thinking. What do you want to do? What are the steps? What do you need to check/ think about? (Grammar/ agreements etc) How will you check your own work? (Spelling, grammar) How can you improve your own work? (Documents in book/ knowledge organisers etc)
Teach everything, the content, the thinking, the steps, the reflection. Make it visible!

Share your thinking, model with clarity, help students visualise the system of learning a language!

Because you may be teaching them a specific language, but you are also teaching them how to learn a language, any language! So the system is as important as the content!
